The University of Genoa has published the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) 2026-2029, the strategic document that defines objectives and actions to promote gender equality, value diversity, and combat all forms of discrimination.
The new Plan renews the University's commitment to building a more equitable and inclusive university community through planned and verifiable interventions in the fields of education, research, and organization.
“Gender Balance” at Genoa Design Week 2026
Among the initiatives of the 2026 edition of Genoa Design Week was the project “Gender Balance” (Equilibrio di genere), an exhibition and research pathway dedicated to the themes of gender stereotypes, benevolent sexism, and male violence against women.

In healthcare, communication between patients and service providers is a fundamental requirement across all care pathways. In this regard, inclusive and effective communication strategies serve as key interventions in tackling health inequalities.
The first activities of the PRISMA project have been launched and met great public success, and much more is yet to come. UniGe Listening Point: a free and anonymous support space dedicated to the University of Genoa community.
The Listening Point complements and strengthens the network of bodies working to protect the university community and promote well-being. Its specific purpose is to counter all forms of discrimination, harassment, abuse, and gender-based violence within the university environment.
In a constantly evolving society, it is essential that the University positions itself as an agent of change by adopting non-sexist and non-discriminatory language. The publication of the guidelines for the use of inclusive language represents an opportunity for all members of the university community to raise awareness, within the broader effort to create a study and work environment that is truly inclusive and attentive to recognising and removing all forms of discrimination, starting with gender-based discrimination.
The University of Genova, on a proposal by the CPO, approved in July 2022 an amendment to the Student Contribution and University Benefits Regulations which, starting from the 2022-23 academic year, grants a 30% partial exemption on the third university instalment to student caregivers - those providing assistance to family members with disabilities - as defined by the 2018 Budget Law (Law no. 205 of 2017, art. 1, para. 255).
On 4 June 2028, in light of the new applicable regulations, recent statutory amendments, and Action 12 of the PAP (2013–2016), and following consultation with the Academic Senate and the Board of Directors, the Rector issued the “Code of Conduct for the Prevention of All Forms of Discrimination, Harassment, and Mobbing in the Work and Study Environments of the University of Genoa.”
