Among the initiatives promoted by the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) was the production of short informational videos on YouTube to showcase the people and actions implemented by UniGe to promote gender equality and combat violence and discrimination.
One of the first videos focuses on the CPO, which has promoted numerous campaigns and actions in support of well-being and gender equality.
What is GEP?
UniGe has responded to the request from the European Commission’s Directorate for Research and Innovation, which asked all public institutions to adopt a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) in order to access research funding under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme. In line with the European Commission’s guidelines, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) also addresses gender inequalities in a transversal manner. Alongside the three strategic pillars shared at the European level (digitalization and innovation, ecological transition, and social inclusion), it identifies three cross-cutting priorities: promoting gender equality, reducing generational disparities, and rebalancing territorial gaps. These priorities are not confined to isolated interventions but are pursued directly or indirectly across all six missions of the Plan.
The University of Genoa has given the adoption of the GEP a meaning that goes beyond mere formal compliance, viewing the process that led to the development of the document as an opportunity to create spaces for discussion and shared reflection on this specific topic.
The GEP is a public document, approved and signed by the Rector, and published on the University’s website: GEP – Gender Equality Plan | UniGe | Università di Genova
