Gender Equality Plan

The University of Genoa has responded to the request from the European Commission’s Directorate for Research and Innovation, which asked all public institutions to adopt a Gender Equality Plan (GEP) in order to access research funding under the Horizon Europe Framework Programme.

In line with the European Commission’s guidelines, the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (NRRP) also addresses gender inequalities in a transversal manner. Alongside the three strategic pillars shared at the European level (digitalization and innovation, ecological transition, and social inclusion), the NRRP identifies three cross-cutting priorities, including the promotion of gender equality, the reduction of generational disparities, and the rebalancing of territorial gaps. These priorities are not confined to isolated interventions but are pursued directly or indirectly across all six missions of the Plan.

The University of Genoa has assigned a meaning to the adoption of the GEP that goes beyond mere formal compliance, viewing the process that led to the development of the document as an opportunity to create spaces for discussion and shared reflection on this specific issue.
