On the occasion of World Theatre Day, Friday 27 March 2026, the TiQu – Teatro Internazionale di Quartiere of Piazzetta Cambiaso will host the initiative “The theatres of the city of Genoa and gender disparity in the show business world”, a day of study and discussion dedicated to the topic of equal opportunities in the theatrical and cultural sector.
The event is promoted by the Municipality of Genoa – Cultural policies and Genovateatro – together with the University of Genoa, School of Humanities, in collaboration with the Committee for Equal Opportunities of UniGe and UniGe Senior, with the patronage of DIRAAS of the University of Genoa.
The morning, from 10:00 AM to 12:30 PM, will open with institutional greetings from the Assessor for Culture of the Municipality of Genoa, Giacomo Montanari, and the Head of Humanities, Micaela Rossi. Introductory interventions by Daniele D’Agostino for the Municipality of Genoa and Livia Cavaglieri for DIRAAS UniGe will follow, with moderation by Luisa Stagi of the UniGe Equal Opportunities Committee.
Following a series of interventions and at the end of the afternoon, the “World Café: The theatre we would like” will take place, a participatory moment designed to foster open comparison between cultural operators, students, scholars and citizens, through thematic tables guided by expert female and male moderators.
The initiative represents an important opportunity for collective reflection on the role of women in the show business world and on the necessary strategies to build an increasingly inclusive, fair and representative theatre system.
