A ottant’anni dal primo voto delle donne in Italia

In 2026 recurs an anniversary of extraordinary relevance for the democratic history of our Country: eighty years since the first vote of women in Italy. To celebrate this recurrence, the University of Genoa promotes an in-depth meeting titled “80 years since the first vote of women in Italy. History, balance sheets and challenges of equal democracy”.

The initiative is organized by the Department of Law of the University of Genoa, with the patronage of the Equal Opportunities Committee of the University and in collaboration with Zonta Club Genoa, Association for Gender Legal Studies and About Gender.

The event will be held Tuesday 28 April, from 10 to 12, at the Aula Magna of Balbi 5 in Genoa, and represents an important occasion to analyze the historical path that led to the recognition of political rights of women, as well as to question open challenges regarding equality and representation.

Program: The meeting will open with institutional greetings by:

  • Gisella De Simone, Director of the Department of Law, University of Genoa

  • Angela Taramasso, Rector's Delegate for equal opportunities and inclusion

  • Maria Rosatelli, President Zonta Club Genoa

Coordinating the works will be Isabel Fanlo Cortés, professor of sociology of law at the Department of Law. The program foresees interventions by scholars and experts offering a multidisciplinary reading of the theme:

  • Maura Fortunati, professor of legal history

  • Eleonora Ceccherini, professor of constitutional law

  • Arianna Pitino, professor of public law

  • Linda Laura Sabbadini, statistician and former Director of ISTAT (connected remotely)
