The Equal Opportunities Committee of the University of Genoa has sponsored the conference “La prevenzione possibile”, promoted by Rotary District 2032 and the Rotary Club of Genoa, dedicated to the theme of countering male violence against women through an interdisciplinary approach.
The meeting will take place on Saturday 18 April at the Sala del Minor Consiglio of Palazzo Ducale in Genoa and will gather scholars, professionals, representatives of institutions, journalism, associations, and anti-violence centers. The day will be divided into two sessions. The first part will deepen the phenomenon of gender violence and the role of education, communication, and new generations in prevention. The second part will be dedicated to a round table on educational, cultural, and social paths useful to promote respectful relationships and contrast stereotypes and violent models.
Among the scheduled interventions:
Emanuela Abbatecola, professor of sociology of gender-based violence and social work at the University of Genoa
Cristina Pasqualini, Cattolica University of Milan
Stefano Ciccone, Maschile Plurale Association and Cecchettin Foundation
Chiara Nardini, Edusex
Francesca Ghio and Francesca Forleo on the role of media language
Federico Montaldo on the Mascherona app
lawyers Maria Borra and Nadia Calafato from Genoa's anti-violence centers
The initiative represents an opportunity for open discussion between university, institutions, associations, and citizens on the topic of preventing gender violence and building a culture of respect.
