The University of Genoa has published its 6th Gender Budget Report (Bilancio di Genere), further consolidating its commitment to gender equality and diversity enhancement within the academic community.
A Well-Established Path
Since its first Gender Budget Report, introduced as part of the Positive Action Plan 2017–2020, UniGe has integrated this tool into its governance structure to monitor the gender impact of internal policies and decision-making processes.
In recent years, the Gender Budget Report has worked hand in hand with the Gender Equality Plan (GEP) and other measures designed to promote equity and inclusion throughout the institution.
Key Content
The 6th Gender Budget Report gathers gender-disaggregated data across various areas of university life:
Student Body: enrolments, dropout rates, graduations, and gender differences in academic discipline choices
Academic, Research, Technical, and Administrative Staff: roles, career advancement, and gender distribution
Governance: representation of women and men on governing and decision-making bodies
Policies and Actions: work-life balance initiatives, training, awareness campaigns, and dedicated gender equality projects
Challenges and Action Points: persistent gaps and recommendations for continuous improvement
Beyond numerical reporting, the document provides an analytical interpretation of data, highlighting trends, strengths, and areas for growth. The Gender Budget Report stands as an essential tool to analyze and transparently communicate the impact of university resources, policies, and activities through a gender lens.
